[Etc] Dell Technologies World 2019

 

DTW(Dell Technologies World)는 Dell사를 시작으로 Dell EMC사, VMware사, RSA사, Pivotal사, Virtustream사, Secureworks사로 구성된 Dell Technologies의 글로벌 컨퍼런스입니다. 올해는 4/29~5/2의 일정으로 라스베거스에서 개최되었습니다만 Day 1의 General Session에서 좀처럼 보기 힘든 광경이 연출되었습니다.

그것은 Dell Technologies의 Micheal CEO, 마이크로소프트사의 Satya CEO, VMware사의 Pat CEO가 한자리에 모인 것입니다.　━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━!

당연히 등장한 3명은 각각 전략적 파트너쉽의 강화를 발표했는데요, 간단히 내용을 소개할까 합니다.（어떤 의미에서는 예상된 내용일지 모르겠습니다만...）

 

VMware Cloud on Dell EMC

VMworld 2019에서 Private/Public Cloud에 이어 Edge 환경까지 관리할 수 있는 SDDC 솔루션으로 발표된 Project Dimension을 Dell EMC의 하드웨어(정확히는 VxRAIL)로 구현하는 이른바 Datacenter-as-a-Service입니다.

VMware Cloud on Dell EMC is Dell Technologies infrastructure installed in your local data center and consumed just like a cloud service. This new, fully-managed Datacenter-as-a-Service offering combines the speed and flexibility of the public cloud with the security and control of on-premises infrastructure.

상기의 뉴스 발표와 같이 데이터센터를 포함한 온프레미스에 Dell EMC사와 VMware사가 도입부터 관리까지 담당한다고 합니다. 며칠 전 발표된 VCF on VxRAIL을 Dell EMC사, VMware사가 관리하는 이미지일까요. 아니면 VMC on AWS의 온프레미스 버전이라고 할 수도 있겠네요. 하드웨어부터 소프트웨어까지 Dell Technologies의 일원화된 서비스와 지원을 기대할 수 있을 것 같습니다.  😉

 

Azure VMware Solutions

VMC on AWS가 발표되었을 때 Azure에서도 동일한 솔루션이 제공되지 않을까라는 소문이 있었습니다만, 이것이 현실화되었습니다. VMC on AWS처럼 Azure의 베어 메탈 서버에 VCF로 구축하는 전용 vSphere 환경을 제공한다고 합니다.

네이티브 Azure 환경과의 접속 기능도 제공을 하리라 생각되니 기존의 Azure 이용자는 보다 간단히, 그리고 적은 비용으로 새로운 vSphere 환경을 구축할 수 있겠네요. 

위의 내용 이외에 Dell Technologies Unified Workspace나 새로운 VxFlex Node, Unity XT 등의 신제품 발표도 있어 명실상부 Dell Technologies 그룹 각사의 시너시 효과를 최대한 끌어낸 이벤트가 아니었나 싶습니다.
